From corporate partnerships to community purpose

Bill Nutting is a former senior marketing executive with American Express, GE Capital, and Bank One, where he built strategic partnerships with many of the nation's most respected organizations, including The National Geographic Society, Apple, SONY Rewards, Charles Schwab, Yale University, Special Olympics, Discover Financial, and The American Medical Association.

A piano player whose enthusiasm has always exceeded his talent, Bill witnessed firsthand the powerful impact that music, entertainment, and meaningful social engagement had on his own parents, Patty Lou and Chuck. Their experience inspired him to found Play it for Seniors in 2017.

Today, Play it for Seniors connects senior living communities with musicians, entertainers, music instructors, art and music therapists, bedside performers, senior bands, theatre groups, and emerging technologies such as virtual reality, making it easier for activity and therapeutic directors to create engaging, enriching experiences for residents.

A lifelong love of music: Bill as a young pianist, with his parents, and supporting the next generation of Yamaha student musicians

Music, family, and the next generation of student performers.

Investing in the Future

Building bridges between generations

A portion of program proceeds helps fund Yamaha digital piano donations to underserved schools in Southwest Florida.

In return, student musicians perform for seniors in local communities, creating a meaningful intergenerational experience that inspires learning, service, and joy.

Student musicians

Yamaha digital pianos give more students access to instruments and performance opportunities.

Senior communities

Residents enjoy live, heartfelt performances from young people in their area.

“The transformative influence of music on seniors is truly awe-inspiring and undeniable. We’re creating a win-win for seniors, student musicians, senior communities, and high school music departments, all in the interest of senior wellness."
