From corporate partnerships to community purpose

Bill Nutting is a former senior marketing executive with General Foods, American Express, GE Capital, and Bank One, where he built strategic partnerships with many of the nation's most respected organizations, including The National Geographic Society, Apple, SONY Rewards, AARP, Special Olympics, Charles Schwab, Yale University, Discover Financial and The American Medical Association.

A piano player whose enthusiasm has always exceeded his talent, Bill witnessed firsthand the powerful impact that music, entertainment, and meaningful social engagement had on his own parents, Patty Lou and Chuck. Their experience inspired him to found Play it for SeniorsSM in 2017.

Today, Play it for SeniorsSM connects senior living communities, senior centers, aging-in-place caregivers, families, and senior care professionals with a growing nationwide marketplace of local providers, products, programs, and resources. From musicians, entertainers, instructors, and therapists to in-home services, wellness, mobility, safety, technology, and senior-friendly products, Play it for SeniorsSM makes it easier to find trusted solutions that support engagement, independence, enrichment, and quality of life for older adults.

Investing in the Future

Building bridges between generations

A portion of program proceeds helps fund the donation of Yamaha digital pianos to underserved schools throughout Southwest Florida, expanding access to music education for students who might not otherwise have the opportunity.

In return, student performers in music and theatre share their talents with seniors in local communities and senior centers, creating meaningful intergenerational experiences that inspire learning, service, and joy while earning valuable community service credits.

“The transformative influence of music on seniors is truly awe-inspiring and undeniable. We’re creating a win-win for seniors, student musicians and theatre performers, senior living communities, senior centers, older adults aging at home, and high school music and theatre departments—all in the interest of senior wellness.”
